Recovering Manhood

I watched a documentary last night about recovering true manhood. Some of it was true. Some of it was from a worldly perspective and spouted satanic philosophy. A couple takeaways from the good parts was that boys, teenage men and young men need role models and safe space to share whats going on inside. Boys, and especially young men, often project an outer facade that matches what they see at home, in their culture and environment; And they often buckle under the pressure of fitting in, rather than doing right. To expound on that: Boys and young men emulate what they see at home in the men, or lack of men, in their lives; they often copy what they see in their culture, like video games, music, and movies; and they often fall to the pressure of their personal environment that involves the influence and peer pressure of other boys or young men, their friends, and what they see in other men in general. Worldly culture and fellow peers, who are in the same boat as they, are the only instructors on manhood for many boys and young men. What every boy and young man needs is men in their lives who demonstrate true manhood.
Men, we must rise up and show our boys and young men that manhood involves all the characteristics and emotions of God, which are so perfectly demonstrated in the life of His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus lived pure and true manhood with a range of emotions and actions:  From self-sacrificing service and love; to weeping over a friends death; to living with the moral courage to speak truth and call out those who led others astray (the Pharisees); to leading by example and lesson, mentoring other men to follow His Father and His pure ways; to acting always with uncommon compassion; to driving off those who defiled the purpose and purity of God’s Temple. Also, remember that God made man and woman in His image. True manhood means living in the full image of God, as God made you, with the full range of emotions and qualities that we see in God, and saw lived out in God the Son, Jesus Christ. Men, we must live as Jesus before our boys and young men, and we must be, and provide, a brotherhood for them that stands counter to the satanically inspired culture around them.
It was interesting that the following was the prayer from the American Prayer Initiative email this morning. God, grant us wisdom to raise our Boys and Girls.:

We pray for healing and restoration of true manhood and womanhood in America. We ask for Your wisdom and protection against attempts to re-define our very identity as men and women.
We pray Your design for abundant and fulfilled manhood and womanhood to gain preeminence in America. Clarify and draw men to Your image of manhood, and women to Your image of womanhood.
Lord, we pray for wholesome, healthy role models for our children.
Awaken and convict mature women [and men] in this country of their responsibility before You to teach what is good. Feed them the wisdom and the courage to speak into a culture that is desperate to hear what they know.
We pray against forces that would attempt to present immorality as normal, natural and healthy. Protect and save our children, Lord. Show us how to turn this upside-down culture right again.
Awaken and convict fathers in this country of the role You have given them to provide for their families.
We ask, Lord, for You to pierce, soften and convict the hearts of those who would pit women against men or men against women.
We petition You, God, asking for Your healing for those who struggle with same-sex attraction or gender identity issues. May they come to know Your power, Your mercy and Your love as You replace unnatural affections with ones You Yourself designed.
“The strength, the perpetuity, and the destiny of the nation rest upon our homes, established by the law of God, guarded by parental care, regulated by parental authority, and sanctified by parental love…
The mothers of our land, who rule the nation as they mold the characters and guide the actions of their sons, live according to God’s holy ordinances, and each, secure and happy in the exclusive love of the father of her children, sheds the warm light of true womanhood, unperverted and unpolluted, upon all within her pure and wholesome family circle…
The fathers of our families are the best citizens of the Republic. Wife and children are the sources of patriotism, and conjugal and parental affection beget devotion to the country. The man who is surrounded in his single home with his wife and children has a stake in the country which inspires him with respect for its laws and courage for its defense.”
President Grover Cleveland – December 8, 1885
Man and woman have each of them qualities and tempers in which the other is deficient and which in union contribute to the common felicity [happiness].
