Are You a Conehead?

Traffic Cones are amazing things. Put together several dozen of them and thousands of people are re-directed into other lanes or detoured onto an alternative route.

God calls his church to acts as traffic cones directing people to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Matthew 7:12-15 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. (13) Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: (14) Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (15) Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

God’s desire is that his church direct people into the strait and narrow gate of Jesus, Who is the only way to Heaven. The Highway to Hell is broad, with many distractions, and many other “ways” heralded by prophets who appear good on the outside but inwardly are very dangerous to eternal souls. These false teachers keep people on the broad path to destruction, rather than directing people to Jesus Christ, Who is the only way of salvation (John 14:6). So don’t just look like a sheep, instead do to others as you would have them do for you and direct people to God’s strait and narrow way of Jesus Christ.

If you were on the broad path to destruction, wouldn’t you want someone to let you know – even if you thought you were right, even if it totally inconvenienced you, and you felt it was an affront that they warned you? Wouldn’t you still want someone to warn you of the danger ahead? I would. Many others would too – it is an act of love.

So be a traffic cone for Jesus – a conehead if you please. Line up with your fellow Christians to direct as many as you can to the strait gate and narrow way that is Jesus Christ. You might get ridiculed – after all you are acting as a conehead! You may get ran over – for all who live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted (2 Timothy 3:12). But wouldn’t you want someone to do that for you, to be a cone in the path of life to direct you to truth, and to Heaven?

Sadly, so often Christians only minister within the confines of their church building – never taking the truth into the world. We are like traffic cones stored in the back of a truck or trailer, doing no one any good. Let’s move out together into the highways and byways of living life! Let’s together be a re-directing force in the eternal highway, pointing people off the path leading to eternal destruction, and into the way of Jesus and eternal life.
